The Future of Marketing is 7.0
Marketing is a continuous process of adapting to an ever-changing market, what we call “market-ing.” Today, we are entering the era of Marketing 7.0, driven primarily by technology. In the age of artificial intelligence (AI), marketing is evolving toward the integration of cognitive science into the marketer’s strategy.
Cognitive science is the study of how the human mind works. This discipline can be applied as a strategic approach to designing marketing stimuli. The goal is to align every marketing stimulus with how people pay attention, relate, and make decisions. This ensures that technology enhances rather than diminishes the human experience.
Before the digital era, the journey began with Marketing 1.0, an era driven by industrial technology. At this stage, marketing was predominantly product-centric, focusing on efficiency and mass production with limited customization possibilities. As markets became more competitive and consumer expectations evolved, the focus shifted toward Marketing 2.0, where businesses began placing customers at the center of their strategies. However, this customer-centric approach intensified competition, pushing many players to pursue market share at all costs. The widespread practice of overpromising eventually gave rise to Marketing 3.0, a paradigm centered on authenticity, integrity, and human values.
